CONFERENCE GRANTS
BENNIE D. USSERY MEMORIAL GRADUATE STUDENT AWARD
The Bennie D Ussery Memorial Graduate Student Award offers a travel stipend of up to $300 to the best-proposed paper from a graduate student(s) who attends the Southern Humanities Conference. The award may be granted to one student, split between two students, or awarded to a team of student artists, musicians, or performers who apply together. The award will be presented at the plenary session of the conference. The award is given in memory of Bennie D Ussery (right), grandfather of SHC Board Member Gilbert Jones.
KATHRYN M. REYNOLDS “WELCOME AWARD”
The Kathryn M. Reynolds “Welcome Award” offers a travel stipend to the person with the best-proposed paper who is a first- or second-time visitor to the Southern Humanities Conference. The $300 award will be presented at the plenary session of the conference. The award is given in loving memory of Kathy Reynolds (left), sister of SHC Board Member Steven Specht.
Mark Ledbetter and Susan Cumings Award
The Mark Ledbetter/Susan Cumings Awards offer registration remission for up to four graduate students per conference for the best-proposed conference presentations, workshops, or papers. Registration will be waived for these students and they will be honored at the plenary session of the conference. The award is given in recognition of the decades of committed service and inspirational leadership demonstrated by former Executive Director Mark Ledbetter and Board Member Susan Cumings.

REGISTER
Registration for the conference is required for all attendees. Please register early to help the team with planning and programming. On-site registration is not available.
HOTEL
This year’s conference will be held at the Marriott Courtyard Greenville Downtown. Registered attendees and presenters can take advantage of a discounted booking rate.
